Why a Handcrafted Bag?
There’s something special about having a bag that is exactly the bag you were looking for. One with no pockets or all the pockets. One with shoulder straps or handles. One with a crossbody strap. One with all of them!
A bag big enough to carry your life, or small enough that it just fits your cell phone and a few cards. A bag that is the perfect colour with a fun lining. A bag that is uniquely suited to you and your needs. A bag that no-one else has.
After decades of dressmaking and costuming, I fell into bag making accidentally. My first bag was made as a gift for my Mom. (She says she loves it, but, you know, she’s my Mom and it’s sort of in the rules!)
That first bag launched me into an ever deepening appreciation of the wide variety of skills required to make bags. I find the entire process, from planning, to cutting to assembly a meditative (though occasionally frustrating) experience.
Each bag is created deliberately and handmade with intention. I choose patterns from various designers and pair them with vinyl for the exterior of the bag. Lining fabrics are typically cotton, but rayon, polyester and poly-cotton are occasionally used as well.
The greatest joy in this process is knowing that bags I make have homes and make someone smile on a daily basis.

You can purchase your items online and have them shipped them directly to your doorstep. Our Canadian Carrier is Canada Post.

Warranty and Care
I hope you enjoy your new custom-made handbag by Red Clay, Blue Water. It is a unique bag, handcrafted by me.
The exterior of your new bag is crafted with vinyl. The interior is cotton or polyester-cotton reinforced by interfacing. Should your bag get a little dirty over time, just wipe it down with a soft cloth and warm water. If necessary, you can clean any external areas with a small amount of dish washing liquid, then wiping down with a damp cloth. Do not wash your bag in the washing machine or submerge it entirely in any liquid.
While constructed with the best materials and reinforced throughout, your bag is not meant for excessively heavy items, or to be over-filled. Either of these will cause enough strain on the bag to damage the seams and may result in damage.
My bags have a 30 day warranty. If for any reason, under normal wear and tear, your bag has a failure, you can return it for repair (if possible) or a full refund.
As with any handmade good, you may see imperfections. But I hope instead you see the result of something that was 100% hand-crafted by one person from beginning to end and not mass produced or factory-made.
